Here are the steps to authorize the WhatsApp connection with Community. To set up this integration, please ensure you have the following:
- Check your business details in Business Manager for accuracy.
⚠️ Make sure your Legal Business Name and Website are valid and up to date. - A Verified Meta Business Account
- Admin access to your Meta Business Manager
- Owner or Admin access to your Community account

- The Community WhatsApp Integration is currently in Beta and may not be accessible on all accounts.

Authorizing WhatsApp for Community
To start the connection process, navigate to Settings > Integrations. Find the WhatsApp Integration and click Authorize.
Connecting your WhatsApp Business Account
You will enter the embedded WhatsApp (Meta) signup flow. Here, you'll grant the necessary permissions to Community to connect your account.
- You must log in using a Facebook account that has access to Meta Business Manager.
- Your personal Facebook Profile information, such as name, photo, and data, will not be utilized by Community.
- This login is solely to confirm your permissions.
Ensure that you select a Verified Meta Business Account from the first dropdown field in the step below. Since you likely won't have an existing WhatsApp Business Profile, opt for the Create a new WhatsApp Business profile option.
🚨 IMPORTANT: When indicating your WhatsApp Business Display Name in the following step, if your Verified Meta Business Account matches your leader name, enter that name here. If your Verified Meta Business Account does not match your leader name, you must format it as Verified Meta Business Account Name - Community Leader Name.
Click Continue.
You have now initiated the connection between WhatsApp and Community! Your request has been submitted to Meta for approval. Once your Display Name is confirmed without any issues, you will receive notification of your approval. If the connection is successful, the status in the Dashboard will eventually change from Pending to ✓ Authorized.
What's Next?
Head to your WhatsApp Account in Meta Business Manager, where you will be able to update your page info including:
- Upload a Profile Picture
- Apply for the Business Verification Badge
