In an effort to protect the SMS communication channel and prevent spam, robo-texts, and malicious content, the U.S. mobile carriers are requiring all local (10DLC) phone numbers to be registered in the Campaign Registry to verified and vetted senders. Unregistered SMS traffic will be severely limited by throughput, deliverability, and cost.
What is The Campaign Registry?
The Campaign Registry (TCR) is a third-party organization that works directly with carriers and text messaging providers, like Community, to easily register 10DLC phone numbers. Registering enables faster throughput (the speed and amount of text messages delivered during a specific time period) and enhanced deliverability for approved businesses and Leaders.
How It Works
TCR requires brands and businesses to register 10DLC numbers using their business tax identification information in order to send high throughput SMS messages.
What if I don’t register with an EIN?
Providing your Tax ID or EIN number and associated information for TCR registration will enable your brand to send large message volumes at a high rate of speed. If you do not have an EIN or do not need high throughput messaging, you can register by simply providing your contact information. This will allow you to send up to 1,000 messages per day as a Starter and serves as the minimum level of registration. Starters can always provide their EIN later to increase their messaging throughput.
How do I register?
Upon logging into your Community account after March 28th, 2022, you will see a screen indicating the information needed in order to register your number with TCR. Simply fill out the information form in the product and Community will automatically submit your registration on your behalf to TCR. Once your registration is accepted by TCR, you will be able to start sending TCR sanctioned messages.
Does TCR charge any additional costs?
The following fees apply in order to register for the TCR.
Registration fees are one-time. Monthly maintenance fees apply per phone number. Additional fees may apply to enable multiple use cases for a phone number. If you switch SMS providers, you may need to repay these registration fees.
