You personalize a Campaign by inserting a dynamic field into the message. A dynamic field is a placeholder, such as a Member's first name or one of your Custom Member Data fields, that Community fills in with each Member's own value when the message sends. To insert one, choose your recipients first, then select the {+} icon and pick a field from the dropdown.

Inserting {First Name} is available to every Leader. Inserting Custom Member Data (CMD) fields is available to qualified Leaders on usage-based plans, and only works once you have uploaded your Custom Member Data.

How to Use Dynamic Fields

1. Start composing a Campaign.
2. Choose your recipients. Do this before you write the message.
3. In the message, select the {+} icon.
4. Select the field you want from the dropdown.
5. Repeat for any other fields. You can use up to four per message.

How to the First Name Dynamic Field Well

A text that uses someone's name can feel written just for them. Use it on every send and it stops feeling that way.

Think about the texts you send your closest friends. You probably do not use their name very often. Use {First Name} sparingly, when it will mean the most: a birthday message, an important announcement, a thank you.

How many dynamic fields can be used in one message?

You can use up to 4 dynamic fields in one message.

What happens if one of the recipients does not have a value for the dynamic field I'm using?

Community does not send the message to that Member. There is no fallback text and no blank space where the value would go. The Member is skipped.

This applies when a Member is missing the value for any field used in the message. If you use two fields and a Member has one but not the other, that Member is still skipped.

Who can insert dynamic fields?

Insert {First Name} is available to everyone.

Insert CMD (Custom Member Data fields) is available to qualified Leaders on usage-based plans. Feature availability and functionality can vary by plan. To check whether you are eligible, contact your Account Manager or email yourfriends@community.com.
