Once you have uploaded your Custom Member Data, it's time to start putting it to use. When composing a message to your audience, first choose your message recipients, then insert a dynamic custom field by typing the “{” key or selecting the “+” icon, and select your desired field from the dropdown.
How many dynamic fields can be used in one message?
You can use up to 4 dynamic fields in one message.
What happens if one of the recipients does not have a value for the dynamic field I'm using?
Any time a recipient is missing any of the fields’ value, we will not send the message to that individual.
Who can insert dynamic fields?
Insert CMD is available for qualified customers on our usage-based plans. Feature availability and functionality may vary by service plan. Please reach out to your Account Manager or yourfriends@community.com to see if you are eligible.

Insert {First Name} Best Practices
While it can be such a impactful experience for Members in your audience to receive a seemingly individually directed text from you, it can start to feel less special when used too often.
If you think about the texts that you send to the closest friends in your phone book, how often do you actually use their name? Probably not that often! Keeping that in mind, we recommend using insert {first name} sparingly and at times when you feel it will mean the most—birthday messages, an important announcement, expressing your gratitude, etc.
